When I am new to a skincare line or when they introduce new products to their line, I love to purchase their discovery kits. By doing so you get to try and use the products without having to pay full prices for full size products This way you don’t have to fully commit to a product but it gives you a chance to use it for a month and see how you like it. The other thing I love about purchasing discovery kids is that they make great travel kits. Instead of taking with you full-size products you can take the smaller travel sizes so they don’t take up as much room in your bag.
🦋 If you are looking for an anti-aging kit to try that is truly good for your skin then I highly suggest the anti-aging discovery kit by TULA This kit offers you five products plus a travel bag. Also, you can receive a 15% discount with CODE - EMILYS15VIP and there is FREE SHIPPING with orders over $50.

New Book Club For January
This month over on Instagram I’m joining my friend Amy and a bunch of other IG’ers in a book club. We are reading the book Uninvited By Lisa Terkeurst. It has been on my to read list but never got around to reading it. When I saw Amy gathering those interested I ordered the book and joined. It’s not too late to join. We just got started this week and I know some are still waiting for their books. This book reminds us we are destined for love that can’t be diminished, tarnished, shaken, or taken....a love that does not react or uninvite.
🙌🏼
❤️ If you’d like to join with us, direct message Amy over on Instagram. Also, I linked the book here so it would it would be easy to find: https://rstyle.me/n/cwjjckcci8f or you can click on the widget under the photo below.
Also, over on my Instagram - EmilySarmo look for this picture and I have a link to Amy's Instagram so you can join the book club- LovelyAmyStyle

Homemade Vegetable Soup
On a cold winters day nothing tastes better than a bowl of homemade vegetable soup. As soon as I saw the forecast the other day with the arctic blast that was hitting Central Florida I headed right to the grocery store to get the items I needed to make this yummy soup. I have made this recipe for years and it's always been a family favorite. One fun thing about this soup is that you can use just about any vegetable you have in your kitchen. In my recipe I will include what I used but remember you can tweak this so easily. If you get a round to making it let me know how you liked it and if you tweaked it let me know what you added or changed. One side note - I try to use all organic vegetables and organic chicken stock but you don't have to.
Homemade Vegetable Soup
Ingredients
1 T olive oil
4 cloves garlic crushed or chopped
1 large onion chopped
4 potatoes chopped
3-4 carrots chopped
3-4 celery stalks chopped
2 cups of frozen peas
2 cups of frozen corn
2 cups of cut green beans
28 ounce can of diced tomatoes
8 cups of chicken broth
1 1/2 tsp thyme
salt and pepper to taste
Directions
In a large stock pot over medium heat put in olive oil. Add garlic and sauce a few minutes then add onion. Sauté until onion is translucent. Then add carrots, celery and potatoes and sauté for a few more minutes. Then add chicken stock, thyme, salt and pepper. Add diced tomatoes and cook until vegetables are soft. Once soft add in frozen peas, corn and green beans and simmer until everything is heated through.

O'Henry Bars
I'm not sure about you but I save certain recipes to make only during the holidays. Many years ago during the Christmas season we were at my sisters home and she had made these bars called O'Henry Bars. I LOVED them and so I began making them every Christmas season too. They are very easy to make and they are a no bake recipe. They are always a hit here every year and it's something we look forward to every December as a yummy Christmas treat.
O'Henry Bars
Ingredients
1 cup Dark Karo Syrup
1 cup white sugar
1 1/3 cups Creamy Peanut Butter
6 cups Special K Cereal
2 cups chocolate chips
2 cups butterscotch chips
parchment or wax paper
Directions
In a large bowl put the Special K Cereal and set aside.. Then in a saucepan put the peanut butter, sugar and Dark Karo Syrup. Cook over medium heat until all are nicely blended together. Then bring to a boil and then immediately remove from heat. Pour mixture into the large bowl with the cereal and mix together. . . I use a rubber spatula and mix until cereal is covered. Get a 9 x 13 baking dish and put the mixture into it. I use a piece of wax paper or parchment paper to push the mixture into the pan and to spread around evening. Set the pan aside.
Then take another sauce pan and put in the the chocolate and butterscotch chips. Melt VERY SLOWLY over low heat. You need to watch the pan at all times so it doesn't over cook which will make everything grainy. Keep stirring until the chips melt. Then spoon melted chips on to the mixture in the 9 x 13. I use a plastic spatula to spread it around evenly. I then put it in the fridge for 30 minutes to an hour to harden up. Take out of fridge and then you can keep it out at room temperature. IT does NOT need to be refrigerated. I like to use a small metal spatula to serve and just an FYI - these are rich so small square pieces are best. Please let me know if you try it and how you like it.
Enjoy, Emily

Chicken Tortilla Soup
There is a huge cold front that is crossing our country this week and I know we here in the south are cheering and saying HOORAY! Even here in Florida we are going to see highs in the 50's and lows in the 30's . . .and that my friend is COLD for us. When the temps drop I crave warm home cooked meals such as soups, stews and chili. If you are looking for a very easy recipe that is SO YUMMY I have just the one that I think you will love. Many years ago I use to blog and I mean I blogged every day faithfully. My former blog was about having and raising our five children, home schooling, my love of Bare Minerals, and being in full time ministry. I also shared my love of cooking and baking. I shared this recipe years ago and this is the honest truth I still have people contacting me saying they still serve this soup to this day. I know you are going to LOVE it. Let me know if you every try it and what you think.
Chick Tortilla Soup
Ingredients
32 ounces of chicken broth
2 cans refried beans
2 cans black beans
2 cups of chicken cubed (I purchase a rotisserie from the grocery)
2 cups of corn
2 cups of salsa (I used medium but feel free to use MILD or HOT)
1 cups of water
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
Tortilla Chips
Put everything in to a soup pot or dutch oven EXCEPT the cheese and tortilla chips. Cook on low-medium for about 10 minutes or until hot. Remove from heat and stir in the shredded cheese. When you serve add tortilla chips and even a dollop of sour cream if you want.
Enjoy it!

Friday Favorites
It’s Friday so that means it’s time for my Friday Favorites!! If you are looking for a great gift for someone who travels a lot or who loves music or loves to watch movies on their computer or other device then I have the perfect holiday gift for you. ❤️🎁 Last year for Christmas I purchased these exact headphones for my husband and ended up purchasing a pair for myself too because I was seeing just how much he enjoyed using them and the quality just can’t be beat. They are a little pricey but they are by far the best headphones you will find and they make an AWESOME gift. I linked the exact pair that we purchased and a few other models that are by the same company but priced lower. ❤️🎁
