Two Of My Favorite Fall Desserts

I love fall!  It's my favorite season of the year!  I love the colors, smells and all the fun fall desserts!  There is something so inviting and warm about filling your house with the smell of cinnamon, apples or pumpkin.
Two of my favorite desserts are Apple Crisp and Pumpkin Bars.  Both of these desserts go way back in our family!  I watched my grandmother and mother make these yummy desserts.  I have been married for 31 years and they have been fall staples in our home each year so I am excited to share these recipes with you.

In a small bowl mix 1/2 cup sugar and 2 T flour. Pour into apples and stir until apples are covered. Put apple mixture into a pie plate. I love to use a Pampered Chef Deep Dish Pie Plate.

Then for the topping, in a small bowl mix 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 cup flour, 1/4 tsp ginger and 1/2 tsp cinnamon - mix together. Then add in the 4T butter. Use a pastry blender to cut in the butter and dry ingredients until crumbly. Top the apple mixture with this topping. My Newest Obsession For Our Christmas Tree

These clip-on candles are my newest obsession. I have always loved the way real candles look on trees but would never ever do it because of the fire hazard but when I found these and read the reviews on them I bought them immediately for our tree this year. I put them on the tree the other day and I LOVE THEM. ❤️💚 They come 12 in a pack and they work with a remote control. Each clip on light works with one AAA battery. What’s cool is I purchased 2 packs for our tree and the same remote works for both packs.
Also, the candles swivel so once they are on the tree you can position them perfectly. This is my favorite Christmas decor purchase for this year. I’ll do an Instastory so I can demonstrate how they look a little later today. Also, I purchased mine from a website that is SOLD OUT now BUT I found the exact ones by the same company on a different website for almost half the price that I paid. ❤️💚For shopping details look under this photo.

The First Apple Crisp Of The Season

Fall is my favorite season and baking is one of my favorite past times so you put the two of them together and you get a whole lot of goodness.  Since we live in Florida I love bringing the outside in to make it feel like fall so I decorate with fall wreaths, fall leave swags, pumpkins and more.  I usually wait to start my fall baking once the first cool front arrives and that happened last week so I made an Apple Crisp or as my mom and grandmother call it, an Apple Betty.

I love apple anything but I LOVE apple pie and apple crisp.  In fact, growing up my mom never made me birthday cakes . . she always made me an apple pie.  That's how much I love them!  To me there is nothing more relaxing than baking a pie.  The process of peeling and cutting the apples is so relaxing and takes me back to an older place in time when things  and times were much slower.

This recipe is super simple to make but it's SO GOOD.  Let me know if you ever try it and how you like it.

Emily's Apple Crisp

Ingredients

Pie Filling
1 Bag of Granny Smith Apples - peeled and sliced (I like mine sliced thin)
2 T orange juice
1/2 sugar
2 T flour

Crumble Topping
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup flour
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp ginger
1/4 cup butter (softened)

Drizzle the 2 T of orange juice over peeled, sliced apples.  This helps to keep the apples from turning brown and gives your apple crisp an added punch of flavor.   Then mix in a small bowl 1/2 cup sugar and 2 T flour. Pour over apples and mix well. Put apple mixture in a pie plate - I love using a stoneware pie plate but any will do.
In the small bowl mix together 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 cup flour, 1/2 tsp cinnamon and 1/4 tsp ginger. Mix well . . then cut in the 1/4 cup of butter. Evenly distribute mixing on top of apple mixture. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Place pie plate on cookie sheet in the pre-heated oven.  Cover sides of pie with foil or I like to use a pie crust shield and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil or pie shield and bake another 30 minutes. Let it sit for about an hour before eating so the juices thicken.  Under this photo I linked a smilier pie plate plus the pie crust shield.

Flameless Candles Add Beauty And Atmosphere To Your Space And Even Better They Are Safe!

As much as I love real scented soy wax candles I love just as much flameless candles. I use them all over our home and I have them set up on timers so they come on early in the evening and go off right before we go to bed. The great thing about flameless candles is that since they are on timers even if you’re not home they turn on and when you arrive at your home after dark it’s a welcoming site and many flameless candles are scented also so you still get the wonderful scents. There are many flameless candles out there but not all of them are equal so I’ve linked some that I love. 💛

Monogram Pumpkins and A Bronze Pumpkin Candle Holder

My home is filled with fall decor the months of October and November. It's filled with fall pillows, throws, wreaths, fall scented candles and pumpkins like this initial pumpkin that I have on my kitchen hutch. This one I purchased last year but I linked similar ones and also initial decals that you can customize.

Also, each year I add in a few seasonal decor pieces to our collection. This year I found this Bronze Metal Pumpkin Tealight Candle Holder that I am loving. I also purchased pumpkin scented tea light candles that smell so yummy. This particular one is sold out but I linked a similar one that's only $14.99 as well as the tealights and table fall floral arrangements.  All the details are under the this photo.  🍁🍁🍁
